Possible origins of discrepancies in the values of styrene solubility in supercritical carbon dioxide obtained using a dynamic (flow) method are analyzed. The results of the solubility measurements obtained using a more profound static method are presented. The effect of the styrene polymerization in the conditions of solubility measurements at elevated pressures onto the results of experiments is evaluated. The mathematical model of solubility in the framework of the Peng — Robinson equation of state that accounts three adjustment parameters is presented and applied to the description of the obtained experimental data in the "styrene — carbon dioxide" system.
